Retraction Watch

Retraction Watch is a website dedicated to tracking and reporting on retractions of scientific papers across various fields. Founded in 2010, it aims to foster transparency and accountability in the research process by shedding light on retractions, corrections, and other issues related to scientific integrity. Retraction Watch provides detailed analysis of why papers are retracted, offering insights into errors, misconduct, and systemic issues within academia and publishing. Its work serves as a valuable resource for researchers, educators, and the public, promoting awareness of the importance of reproducibility and ethical practices in science.

Retraction Watch maintains a comprehensive and openly accessible database of retracted papers, which is available at GitLab. Open Access helper updates our version of the database weekly, every Sunday morning, to ensure it remains current and reliable. The database has become an essential tool for anyone researching trends in scientific publishing, enabling a deeper understanding of how and why errors occur in research publications.

What does it do?

If enabled, Open Access Helper will inject a red badge into the page, which will link you to either the database entry or a blog entry at retractionwatch.com.

Open Access Helper will also update the extension icon into a red triangle with an exclamation mark and include a button in the popover indicating the Retraction Watch information.

How to enable this feature?

To enable Retraction Watch, do the following. Access the Open Access Helper Settings, by clicking on the toolbar icon and then selecting “Settings” from the footer of the popover.

Then select Additional Services and check the box next to Display Retraction Watch Data.
